Whichever way you voted in the referendum, I’m sure you’ll agree that there’s nothing to be gained by delaying the process now the decision’s been taken.
It seems that, come what (M)ay – the process is likely to take two years, so I was relieved to learn that Theresa is using her cabinet meeting at Chequers to tell the relevant ministers to get on with it! Even more important – this instruction is to be passed on to those engines of government – the civil servants.
This process has spawned yet another new word – Brexiteers. I rather like this one, with its overtones of lace, boots and swashbuckling swordplay, although I’m not sure how the individuals concerned fit the profile.
Be that as it may, let’s get on and do the deed. Only then can we assess the true impact of leaving Europe and work out what to do next!
Do let me know what you think!
